On this International Women’s Day, #Together celebrates Caroline Addy, Wendy Mead OBE, and Ruby Sayed #IWD2022 #BreakingTheBias

The Ward of Farringdon Without is fortunate to be represented by three exceptional women Temple and Farringdon Together councillors: Caroline Addy, Wendy Mead OBE, and Ruby Sayed.

Caroline Addy CC is a Barrister specialising in media, defamation, privacy, and harassment at Doughty Street. She was elected as a City Councillor in 2017 and is Chair of the City of London Police Professional Standards and Integrity Committee and former Chair of the Standards Committee.

Wendy Mead OBE CC is a lifelong campaigner for improved health and social care and chaired the successful Save Barts Campaign. She has been a City Councillor since 1997 and served as City Sheriff in 2011-12 and Chief Commoner 2017-2018. She has served as Chair of the Port Health and Environmental Services Committee and the Health and Social Care Scrutiny Committee.

Ruby Sayed CC is a Barrister specialising in child and family law at One Pump Court, Governing Bencher of Inner Temple and their appointed representative on the Bar Tribunals and Adjudication Service Appointments Body and Assistant to the Master of the House. She is also an Entrepreneurial Investor, Chair of the Asian Women’s Resource Centre, Trustee of Bury St. Edmund’s Women’s Aid.

A City Councillor since 2017, Ruby is currently Chair of the Community and Children’s Services Committee, Chair and Lead Member for Safeguarding for the City of London, and Chair of Safer City Partnerships Board.

Temple and Farringdon Together colleague, Edward Lord, who has led for the Corporation on promoting greater equity, diversity, and inclusion said:

Ten days left to apply for a postal vote. Don’t miss out on your chance to Speak for the City. #Together

As we find new ways of working, it is likely that fewer of us will be coming in to the workplace every day, meaning that it may not be possible for all those who participate in the City’s unique worker franchise to vote in person on polling day on Thursday 24 March.

The Temple and Farringdon Together team want to encourage every resident and worker to exercise their democratic rights in this year’s City elections and would therefore encourage all electors to register for a postal vote, which can be delivered to your home, office, or another convenient UK address.

Temple and Farringdon Together get behind City of London’s solidarity with Ukraine

Together Councillors who serve on the City of London’s Leading Policy and Resources Committee – Ruby Sayed, Wendy Mead, and Edward Lord – are today supporting proposals for the Corporation to come out in solidarity with the people of Ukraine as they face the oppressive invasion from their Russian neighbours.

The Corporation has already floodlit its historic Guildhall headquarters in the yellow and blue colours of the Ukrainian flag and will this morning consider a proposal by councillors Tom Sleigh and Tijs Broeke that the Ukrainian Ambassador to the United Kingdom should be given the Freedom of the City of London. This important gesture demonstrates the link between our two countries and our support for their people at this most difficult time.

Consideration is also being given by the Corporation’s Finance Committee to contributing a substantial sum to the emergency appeal in response to the humanitarian crisis occurring as a result of Russia’s unprovoked aggression.

Temple and Farringdon Together Team offer themselves for re-election

The City of London’s electoral services team has now confirmed that all ten of the Temple and Farringdon Together team are validly nominated to seek re-election as Common Councillors for the Ward of Farringdon Without in this year’s elections which are due to take place on 23/24 March 2022.

The Together team which has represented the Ward since March 2017, provides a united and experienced group of councillors for the largest electoral district in the City, with over 3,600 electors. The team members:

George Abrahams CC, Deputy John Absalom, Caroline Addy, Greg Lawrence CC, Deputy Edward Lord OBE, Paul Martinelli CC, Wendy Mead OBE CC, Ruby Sayed CC, Oliver Sells QC CC, and William Upton QC CC

include residents, practising barristers, part time Judicial Officer Holders, business leaders, and local campaigners, who bring a multitude of skills and understanding to what is a highly complex organisation.

Campaign Manager, Edward Lord, said: “I am certain that in the Together team we have an outstanding set of individuals who are able to represent the wide variety of interests in this most diverse area of the City of London.”
