Edward is a long-term City resident, a non-executive director of several companies and public bodies, and a consultant specialising in stakeholder engagement and governance.

Elected a City Councillor in 2001, Edward has chaired the City’s Licensing, Standards and Establishment Committees and is now Deputy Chair of the Capital Buildings and Gresham Committees and a member of the senior Policy and Resources Committee. Edward was a leading member of the Local Government Association from 2004 to 2013, including holding the equality and social inclusion portfolio.

Edward engages their passion for justice by sitting as a Presiding Justice of the Peace in central London, in the appellate jurisdiction of the Crown Court at the Old Bailey and Southwark, and in the Employment Appeal Tribunal.

Edward was appointed an OBE in the 2011 Birthday Honours List for public service. Current roles outside the City include service as independent chairperson of the Northern Ireland Assembly Commission’s Audit & Risk Committee, and as an independent director of Middlesex County Cricket Club and the British Basketball League.

Edward is a student member of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple and its LGBTQ+ Forum. Unfortunately, Edward was unable to complete their GDL studies in 2009 due to personal circumstances at the time, but remains a proud supporter of the Inn and its life and work.
