
Ruby was called to the Bar by Inner Temple in 1999 and practices in child and family law at One Pump Court Chambers. She is a Governing Bencher of the Inner Temple & their appointed representative on the Bar Tribunals and Adjudication Service Appointments Body as well as the Assistant to the Master of the House.
Outside her professional practice, Ruby is also an entrepreneurial investor, focusing on renewable and sustainable energy projects. She is a member of the Family Law Bar Association, Women Barristers Association, Lawyers for Liberty, and the Child Poverty Action Group. Ruby is the Chair of Trustees of the Asian Women’s Resource Centre, a Trustee of Bury St Edmund’s Women’s Refuge and has a number of other Charitable interests.
Ruby has successfully lobbied for a Women’s refuge for a number of years resulting in the City of London’s first ever opening of a Women’s refuge by way of a pilot project
in April 2023. She also lobbied for discretionary business rates exemption for nurseries/early years child care providers in the square mile. The policy was approved by Common Council in April 2024. It’s first beneficiary was Smithfield Nursery.
She is also a member of Haberdashers Livery Company and a Founding Member of Company of Entrepreneurs.
Ruby was elected as a City Councillor on 23 March 2017. She is the immediate past Chair of the Community and Children’s Services Committee (and safeguarding sub committee). She was also Chair for the City and Hackney Sub Committee of the North East London Integrated Care Board, Chair & Lead Member for Safeguarding for the City of London, Chair of Safer City Partnerships Board and Chair for the Crime and Disorder Scrutiny Committee, Ruby also sits on several other committees such as Homelessness and Rough Sleeping (sub), Resource, Risk & Estates (Police), Audit and Risk Management including (Nomination and Effectiveness sub). She is also on the Boards for Integrated Care, Education and Local Outbreak (sub). Ruby is also a member of the Queen’s Park Consultative Group
