
After graduating from university where he read classics, after which he joined his family business, P.J. Martinelli Limited, at Smithfield. He followed his father Peter, who served for 19 years on the City Corporation, when he was elected a Common Councilman in 2013.
Paul is Currently Chairman of the City Bridge Foundation, London’s largest independent charity where he has overseen the distribution of over £200 million of grants over the last three years tackling inequality across the capital and also sits on the Markets Board. He also is a member of the Finance Committee and Policy and Resources Committee.
Paul is a member of the Farringdon Ward Club, Treasurer of the Smithfield Market Tenants Association, a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Butchers, Governor of the London Museum and Trustee of the City of London Archaeological Trust.
