
Charles Edward is a long-term City resident, a non-executive director of several companies and public bodies, and a consultant specialising in stakeholder engagement and governance.
Elected a City Councillor in 2001, they have chaired the City’s Licensing, Standards and Corporate Services Committees and are now Chair of the Gresham Committee and the City’s Lead Member for Sport. They also serve on the Capital Building Board; Markets Board; City of London School for Girls Board of Governors; as well as the Civic Affairs; Communications & Corporate Affairs; Corporate Services; Equality Diversity and Inclusion; Hampstead Heath, Highgate Wood and Queen’s Park; Joint Consultative; Planning and Transportation; Member Development and Standards; and Senior Remuneration Committees.
I addition to this, Charles Edward was a leading member of the Local Government Association from 2004 to 2013, including holding the national equality and social inclusion portfolio
Charles Edward engages their passion for justice by sitting as a Presiding Justice of the Peace in central London, in the appellate jurisdiction of the Crown Court at the Old Bailey and Southwark, and in the Employment Appeal Tribunal.
Charles Edward was appointed an OBE in the 2011 Birthday Honours List for public service.
