Deputy John Absalom
John retired as Chairman of his family business, Absalom & Tribe, in November 2015, allowing him to focus on his role as a Common Councilman. John was elected to the City Corporation in 1994 and currently serves on the Port Health and Environmental Services Committee and the Culture, Heritage and Libraries Committee. He is President of the Smithfield Market Tenants’ Association, a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Butchers, and has just retired as Commodore of the City Livery Yacht Club.
John was recently appointed by Alderman Gregory Jones QC as one of his two Deputies, having previously served in that role under Alderman Julian Malins QC.
