Two sets of highway works will impact on the Temple and Farringdon Without area in the coming weeks:
Traffic Light Upgrade on Long Lane EC1 and parking bay suspension: 27 February 27 to 8 March
Transport for London are planning to upgrade the traffic lights at the pedestrian crossing on Long Lane by West Smithfield. The new lights have been designed to current standards and will use less energy, thanks to new technology.
The works are planned to take place daily, on the footway only, from 08:00 until 18:00 between 27 February and 8 March.
The loading bay on West Smithfield outside St Bart’s Brewery will be suspended during the works. The suspension will be clearly signed.
Footways and pedestrian crossings will remain open wherever possible, although some temporary closures may apply. Any closures will be clearly signed, while pedestrian access to properties will not be affected.
Thames Water closing Chancery Lane: late March
Thames Water will be closing Chancery Lane between Fleet Street and Carey Street to install new stronger plastic pipes. The dates for the closure are yet to be confirmed, but will begin towards the end of March for approximately six weeks.
Road traffic will be diverted during the closure, but footways should be open at least to allow access to occupiers. It is likely that the water supply will be impacted during the works, but Thames Water will give occupiers notice nearer the time.
